Board Games
The board game tournaments run for one, two, three or four sessions.
Each blurb lists the number of sessions, board game used and, where applicable,
the official rules and any modifications to these.
Session allocations for each tournament are shown on the entry form timetable.
If you have copies of any of these games and can bring them to your tournament
or even just lend them to the convention, we would appreciate it!

Diplomacy is the game
which unifies the subtle art of persuasion and the blunt science of
military strategy. Game-board mechanics are extremely simple, and
movement is resolved simultaneously on the basis of orders recorded
secretly after periods of fluid negotiation, during which the 7 European
powers circa 1901 form, test - and perhaps break the alliances which will
determine the political map. Players at VDC compete for the stately perennial trophy, the "Vic Cup". Tournament newcomers are especially welcome, and a special prize for 'Best Novice' will also be awarded. Placings are determined by aggregate score over three rounds, starting promptly at 9:00 on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday mornings. Diplomacy is a well-organised hobby in Australia and New Zealand. |

De - We don't need no stinking Breaks! Organised by |

The crowd simmered with tension, the cars came screaming past the grandstand, screeching breaks, the roar of the engines! Five cars raced past in what looked like about 4th gear, dodging and weaving, joking for position...and the cars were past... seconds passed... more seconds past..... ...and a car came screaming down the straight, pieces of spoiler trailing, smoke pouring from the engine, a driver (missing helmet) screaming “I’ll catch you YET you bastards!”...and hit the corned in 6th gear. As one the crowed roared “OH THE HUMANITY!” as the car disintegrated attempting the corner. As one a polite golf clap was given. What to understand the blurb above? Play the game! :) * * * Formula De is a board game based off real F1 racing. First timers can
pick it up quickly. We will start in Melbourne (Albert Park track) and
finish in Monte Carlo because well...its Monte Carlo! Points will be given
once we make up the system (apologise, this blurb was written the night
of the dead line but we have 2 months to sort that out!) |

A rouge Bot (class Sanctioned Platform Lifting Articulated Transporter) from one of the multi purpose Wigit Production Plants has gone...well...rouge. Again standard irradiation methods have proved ineffective. Considering the normal damage done during a Robo Rally through the effected area may have the desired effect on the S.P.L.A.T. Unit. Again while this will be a standard Robo Rally boardgame there will be a surprise or two over the weekend. Play in one or all three nights. 100pts for a flag, 20pts for a straight kill and 10pts for an assist on a kill. There will be bonus points which will be explained at the time. First time friendly, all welcome. |
