Tabletop RPGs - Lighthearted

These games trend towards a silly or cosy nature. While they might not be as intense in subject matter, they are not light in story or roleplay. They might offer a welcome break after an intense session.

A Looking Glass Jukebox: Nude on Surf Beach

Presented By: Mark Holsworth
Written by: Mark Holsworth and Gerard Todd

Beginner Friendly
Kid Friendly

A Looking Glass Jukebox is a genre mash of sixties rock, psychedelic absurdity, and alternate realities—too groovy for squares. This is Spinal Tap through the looking glass, the Beatles on The Magical Mystery Tour, the Monkees in Head, Scoobie Doo knocking on The Doors of Perception, the Partridge Family on acid… this isn’t just role-playing its rock’n’role-playing.

Player Capacity: 4
System: A Looking Glass Jukebox
System knowledge required: None, system will be taught during the session.
Rating: PG.
Seriousness: Completely Silly – (0/6).

SCRAM!

 By: Owen Crute

Beginner friendly, Kid friendly

A comedy game poking fun at the classic Dungeons and Dragons formula, running in an extremely loose, vaguely Powered By The Apocalypse-flavoured system.

You are a loose, quasi-familial unit of kobolds: diminutive and trivial creatures living in the warrens and tunnels of the the Fang, a mountain owned, operated and occupied by the great red dragon Furor Corissa. She’s the coolest thing you’ve ever seen. One day, a group of adventurers arrive to delve into your home and slay her! You must flee upwards and inwards through the dungeons of the peak, warning the other denizens and laying traps and hazards behind you. Will you reach Corissa’s hoard-chamber in time to wake her?

Player Capacity: 3 to 5.
System: Custom.
System knowledge required: None, system will be taught during the session.
Rating: PG. Slapstick fantasy violence, strong language.
Seriousness: Not very (1/6).

Can they protect their classmates, conceal their identities, and stop the creature before the truth breaks through?

Players will have the opportunity to decorate their own super hero masks!

Sunset Bay: Last Orders

 Scenario by: Anthanum

WELCOME TO SUNSET BAY

Where the surf is golden, the beers are cold, and the secrets are buried deeper than a stingray at low tide.

The owner of The Driftwood Pub has vanished.

One minute, Baz was pulling pints and calling the meat raffle. The next? Gone. No note. No body. Just an empty till, a half-written will, and a pub full of people who all called him “mate”, all while sharpening knives behind his back.

Was it murder?

A scam?

Or did he just finally get sick of the Thursday night poker game?

You’ve got a ticket to the meat raffle… and a motive.

The locals are talking. The cops are circling. And everyone’s got a reason to want Baz gone:

  • The ex-wife who still runs the kitchen
  • The surf champ who owes him a fortune
  • The mysterious newcomer who bought a suspicious amount of raffle tickets
  • The kangaroo who saw everything (What’s that Skip?)

Drink up. Spill secrets. Solve nothing.

In a town where everyone’s related, cheating, or both, the only thing more dangerous than a murderer is a second cousin with a grudge and a podcast.
This summer… the drama’s on tap.
